You hear the phrase "be you" or "be authentic" all the time but what does that even mean? I'm a different person everyday of the week, so what is my "authentic"?
We live in a society that tells who and what to be and when to be it. We live in an era where you can literally be whoever you want, especially online. I think the term "be authentic" really stems from connecting within, listening to your inner voice and allowing that voice to be heard, giving it a chance with no doubt or public manipulation, and trusting yourself knowing you have everything you need within you.
In this article, I'm revealing 11 guiding principles that are going to help your connect and build a lasting, loving relationship within. I want to help you find "your authentic."
Each one of these principles are like a gate, opening up to a path and you are the traveler. It is up to you step through the gate and continue on your path.
Guiding Principle #1
Understand you are connected to everything. All things correlate and connect in some way. Wholeness. Know that everything as a whole connects. You can only understand yourself if you understand how you are connected to everything else.
Guiding Principle #2
Accept change. All of creation is in a constant state of change. The only thing that does not change is the cycle of change. There are two types of change: developmental, things coming together, and disintegration or falling apart.
Guiding Principle #3
Life happens in patterns. There is a pattern that takes place in everything and in every change in life. Nothing is accidental or left to chance. Sometimes it is hard to see how everything connects. This just means our view or perception of the situation is limiting our ability to see clearly.
Guiding Principle #4
The seen and the unseen. Know that the physical world is real and the spiritual world is real. They are two aspects of one reality, yet they operate separately but none the less connected. Having a balance of both in life is key.
Guiding Principle #5
You have a spiritual and physical connectedness. Understand both aspects of yourself and keep them balanced for a healthy and authentic relationship within.
Guiding Principle #6
You have the ability to develop new talents. You can always learn. The human mind is a remarkable thing. It will be a struggle, because of your innate pattern of thinking, but you can make any changes necessary to development new gifts or talents. It takes mental, spiritual, emotional, and physical work to master any such.
Guiding Principle #7
There are four aspects to learning. All four of these are needed to truly learn about your inner being. These four aspects of yourself are your mental, spiritual, emotional and physical selves. Each part of you must be engaged before you can truly know yourself. Explore each part of yourself, note the status is and continue on your journey. All of your four aspects must be engaged before you can truly learn yourself and become whole.
Guiding Principle #8
You must be an active participant in the unfolding of your own potential. It will not 'just happen' you must make an active decision to learn, grow and explore yourself.
Guiding Principle #9
The doorway in which you must pass to become different or more than you are now is will. You must choose to take this journey. This path has infinite patience and will always be there for those who wish to travel it.
Guiding Principle #10
Anyone who set out makes a commitment and follows that commitment to self-development will be aided. Teachers and guides will appear. You will have spiritual protectors and no test that you do not have the strength to handle or already have the answer to will be given. You will overcome.
Guiding Principle #11
The only source of failure on your journey to self-development will be your own failure to commit and follow through. Trust yourself you already have the answers within, you only need to seek them out.
I hope that these guiding principles are a beacon of light that help you on your journey within. I wish you the best of luck, self discovery can be tiresome but much more rewarding.
