Salad dressings can be the worst offenders for hidden sugars and processed soybean oils. I no longer buy dressings in a bottle, and make my own. Yes, it takes a few more minutes, but it is way cheaper and much cleaner ingredients.
In a crunch, I just do the olive oil, apple cider vinegar (or lemon), and a dash of salt, pepper, and whatever dried herb I have on hand. This time, I happened to have an avocado so I went ahead and used that. And since I don't eat dairy, I used Nutritional Yeast Flakes (vegans call it “nooch”) for a parmesan cheese taste. These yellow flakes are high in B12 vitamins and make a great substitute for times when you want a cheesy flavor but don't do the whole dairy thing.

Ingredients (Serves 2)
- one half small avocado
- juice of 1 small lime
- a few splashes of olive oil (maybe 2 T)
- dash of garlic salt
- dash of pepper
- small splash of Apple cider vinegar (maybe 1 tsp)
- 1 T fresh herb on hand (I used dill) or 1 tsp dried herb of choice
- 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast flakes (link above) or if you want, use real parmesan cheese
Put everything in a food processor or blender and mix. Easy peasy.
