Today's video blog discusses smoothies. Most people think smoothies are health foods, but they can be just as bad for you as a Barbie-pink frosted chocolate cupcake.
Have you ever read the labels of bottles smoothies and green drinks at the store? Some of them have over 30 grams of sugar! At this point, healthy is not so healthy.
The key to a blood sugar balanced smoothie is making sure there is a balance between sugar and protein. You want to make sure you are following the 5 step process in this video. Your liquids: coconut water, water, ice, or juice (but watch for a warning about juice!)
Your protein: quality protein powder (my favorite), chia seeds, hemp seeds, egg yolks, raw liver – I know, now you are really grossed out and totally have to watch to figure out the method to the madness!
You can also add a tablespoon of a superfood: raw cocoa, goji berries (soak in water for 10 min before adding to blender), maca maca powder.
