I love fun, kooky, and cheesy movies and shows. I gravitate towards the Hallmark Channel, happily ever after endings, and ANYTHING with ABBA music.
I saw Mamma Mia 2: Here We Go Again this past weekend with my dad. The husband was quite relieved I had a movie buddy because Mamma Mia 2 was not on his list of must-see’s after I’ve tortured him with plenty of re-runs of the first movie, a live showing of the play, and an ABBA revival concert.
I keep telling him that deep down, somewhere in the depths of his heart, he knows he just loves such things. But instead of acknowledgment, I get a big fat eye-roll, a smirk, and a kiss because he loves me so no matter how strange he thinks I am.
Anyhoo, back to the show….
I must admit, Mamma Mia 2 did start out a bit slow, but by the middle to the end it was just as uplifting and fun as I had hoped.
I am drawn to this particular story because it’s the tale of several generations of women who follow their inner voice, their soul, to make their dreams come true.
Donna moved to Greece after college, because it felt right, and she believed she had something important there to do… even though she didn’t know the what or how.
She believed that knowing what you want and going after it is an EASY thing to do. It just is, and you either do or don’t.
Donna’s daughter Sophie totally renovated her mom’s bed and breakfast to a boutique resort, knowing that it was important to her soul to do this in memory of her mother, not because she felt an obligation.
The movie portrays women as strong, empowered, brave, and independent. The addition of Cher in part 2 adds a double whammy of a powerful female presence. (I swear, that woman just needs to stand there and you can FEEL her energy.)
But what I like most is it’s the kind of movie that inspires you to do a little self-reflection – whether you are truly living your passion and purpose, doing what you are being called to do – or not.
- Are you embracing new opportunities, even if it seems scary or illogical?
- Or are you embodying fear, and staying in the confines of what seems safe?
- Are you stuck because you are struggling to even understand what your soul wants for you?
Regardless of where you are, I invite you to join my free Facebook group where I will be chronicling my journey to greater alignment, actually DO-ING those things that reflect who I am at soul-level.
I believe that by following your spirit, you can create a shit-ton of joy and abundance in all areas of life.
