In last week’s blog post I talked about the different forms of resistance and how to take the first step in identifying where your resistance is coming from, and what exactly it is about. Like with any job, you can’t pick the right tool until you know what you are dealing with.
Since there are forms of resistance at the mind, body, and soul level, I’m going give you one tip / tool to use to help with resistance in each area. I’m also giving you a lot of resources in this post as my hopes are that you will find something that will work for you.
If you discover that your resistance is coming from that feeling of being forced to do something, then the simple solution is to not do it. However, the tough part is dealing with the criticism or judgment from those who are the convincing agent. If you are stuck in the unhelpful pattern of always saying “yes” when you really mean “no”, or if you feel you are lacking the confidence to stand your ground, then you will constantly find yourself feeling resistance (and resentment).
To gain a different perspective, answer the following questions:
1. What is the cost of you following through with someone else’s expectations?
2. Let’s say you choose to comply, how will this impact you? How will it impact the person that is expecting you to do this?
3. What do you think will happen if you say “no”? List everything, big or small. Then decide if any of those are blown a bit out of proportion.
4. Will this person even think about this issue a month or two down the road, regardless of your decision?
You also carry a lot of messages and preprogrammed beliefs that we acquired way back, starting in childhood. These messages came from family, friends, teachers, colleagues, and society / media. Sometimes your subconscious beliefs totally override what you know is truly aligned to your divine nature.
5. What are your beliefs about complying with others?
Reflect on all of these questions, and see what you get.
I created a full E-course on how to identify and rewrite pre-programmed beliefs simply because I know the power of the subconscious mind as well as the impact on these beliefs have on your ability to set intentions and manifest what you want.
2. Physical Body
If your resistance is coming from repeating an event that was formally stressful or uncomfortable for you, your physical body will sabotage your attempts at doing said activity EVERY TIME. Your amygdala (fight or flight response system) has encoded the past event as “dangerous”, thus does everything possible to prevent you from feeling or experiencing the same thing again.
In this case, you need to use a tool that helps the physical body understand that the situation is not a life or death threat. Your amygdala doesn’t always follow logic. It doesn’t know the difference between walking down a dark, inner-city alleyway, alone, at 2am and giving a speech to a room full of professional adults. Tapping (EFT) is a perfect tool for this issue.
Tapping, or Emotional Freedom Technique, is based on Chinese acupressure to calm your body’s amygdala so that you can re-train the brain.
You can read my page about Tapping as it goes into details on the how’s, what’s, and why’s.
I also did a live video in my private Facebook group teaching how to tap for resistance. Head on over there to join so you can watch it.
3. Soul Level
Soul level resistance appears when you are making choices that go against your divine nature. This often leads to confusion, self-doubt, poor self-confidence, chakra imbalances, overwhelm, stress, and in some cases when you REALLY aren’t listening to your soul-self, physical illness.
I recommend a full Akashic Records reading for this because it will give you (in detail) BOTH present and past life blocks and restrictions that are preventing your soul from being able to fully express itself. When we have a good grip on what is holding you back, I can request the negative karmic energies to be cleared so you are no longer dragging them around with you like a backpack full of rocks.
However, a do-it-yourself tool would be to get a visual on your soul voice and create a daily practice (much like meditation or exercise) to sit and really connect with your soul-self. This takes PRACTICE because you are used to listening to the fear-based chatter of your monkey mind. But this is not where we get the answers that are in alignment with what our spirit wants for us. The mind will always lead you down a path of rationalizations and worry over what others will think, say, or feel. Your soul voice will ALWAYS tell you what you need to do.
I’ve created a free video where you can learn to identify your “warrior”, a.k.a. soul voice. It will walk you through, step by step, how to pick the one that holds the energy you need.
So that’s that! Yes, long post. Got questions? Head on over to Know Your Soul-Self and ask away!
