This weeks blog is a little bit of a continuation from last week so if you missed it, please go back and read that first.
The reason is because I talked about the importance of understanding the ROOT cause of your procrastination, and gave you a downloadable guide that shows you step-by-step how to figure out what that is. It’s not always what you think!
The best example I can give you is a bit of a downer, but it does prove my point. Let’s say you are diagnosed with cancer. And because of the cancer you are feeling extremely tired, have no energy, and are in pain.
If you decide the best way to treat the cancer would be to buy some energy drinks so you feel more alert, and then take ibuprofen to deal with the pain, what will the end result be? You already know the answer to that, so I don’t have to tell you.
You will NEVER eradicate cancer by only dealing with the symptoms via energy drinks and ibuprofen. The ROOT CAUSE is cancer. And unless you deal with that, then you’re not going to restore your health.
Understanding your self-sabotaging behaviors (procrastination being a very popular one) follows the same exact concept.
If you are procrastinating about putting together a workshop, and decide that to get over it you need to more information so you take a bunch of classes on how to publicly speak and how to effectively host an amazing workshop, then you are just wasting your time, money, and energy.
Let me clue you in on something… your avoidance of doing this workshop is linked to something way greater.
My guess is that you had a pretty bad experience with maybe hosting a small group or you were told growing up that you really suck at teaching. Whatever it is, THAT is the problem and now you can start developing the solution.
My number one tool to get over my shit is EFT or Tapping.
This is why…
1. It not only works with mindset, but it also works with your emotions AND physical body.
Your physical body plays a HUGE role in your self-sabotage because your little fight or flight mechanism REMEMBERS the ugly experiences. It then does everything possible to prevent you from repeating any semblance of that again.
If you don’t use a tool that calms your body’s nervous system, then you are ignoring a key part of the problem.
It’s like expecting your car to be reliable when you only service the tire pressure and air filter. Um, what about the other parts??
2. It works soooooo much quicker than other modalities (meditating, balancing your chakras, journaling, etc.).
It’s like killing several birds with one stone. You get rid of negative thoughts, how you feel about them, and the knots in your stomach all at the same time.
I don’t know about you, but I prefer to get over myself quickly and efficiently. No need to drag that drama on!
Imagine where are you would be if you stopped procrastinating.
