Something you need to know about insurance…
I do NOT accept insurance for services. Here is why:
When you use your insurance company for counseling, this information remains in your general medical history. It may impact your ability to obtain life insurance, employment, or other services depending on your diagnosis. An official diagnosis must be reported to the insurance agency in order for me to receive payment for services.
Basically, I need to tell the insurance company that something is really “wrong” with you so they deem it as medically necessary. I would rather help people than label people.
Conventional insurance companies do not pay for coaching or “alternative” services as they are really not in the business of prevention, spiritual growth, or holistic treatments. Therefore, when we talk about nutrition or use tapping to clear blocked emotions, they won’t cover the service anyway.
More and more holistic and “green” health plans are starting to surface every day, but they are private pay services, not something that you would obtain through traditional employment.
This information is not meant to discourage you from ever using your insurance, but rather to make sure you are an informed consumer. You may want to call your insurance agency before you use it, ask what they do with the information, and get the specifics about how it will impact you in the future.
