Ah, the great search for clarity.
- What am I good at?
- Who am I supposed to serve?
- Should I formally cut ties with _ who continuously sucks the living energy out of me?
Somedays finding clarity is like searching for a needle in a haystack. You know it's there, but feel it's just out of your reach. Or maybe for you it's like that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, where you will finally find your version of happiness.
The reality is that we are all searching for some kind of clarity whether it is business direction, a relationship, what car to buy, or even where to live.
There is this idea that if you find clarity, you will have all of the answers you need and your problems will be solved! But here's the thing, getting clarity isn't necessarily black or white, nor is it a one-step process. There are many factors to consider.
1. Clarity lies within you, especially if we are talking the kind of clarity surrounding your soul-level gifts and knowing your authentic way of being.
If you are searching for this kind of clarity from other people, places, and things, you're going to be extremely disappointed. The kind of information you get from others is what you
“should” be doing, what is expected of you, and what “looks” good.
All this does is create more confusion because their perception of you will probably include doing things that you don't even like. So if you are seeking this information from someplace outside of yourself, you will continue to be unclear for sure.
2. Sometimes you won't get the clarity you need until more time has passed.
You may have all of the information you need right now, or maybe you don't even have the tools to help get there.
No matter how bad you want clarity right now, you won't necessarily get it. For example, I am currently experimenting with my blog delivery method. As you may know, I have done several video blogs, and then taken the audio to create a podcast episode.
However, as good as I can be on video, I do talk a lot with my hands and because I have so many words, I often have little pieces of paper scattered about. Therefore, it is really painful for me to sit still and look straight on in a video frame to say what I need to say. So for this episode I am doing audio format only, and then transcribing it into a text-based blog.
Now, will I have clarity today on which direction I want to continue with? No. This will depend on how I feel as I develop the audio only posts, as well as the feedback that I get from others. Therefore, as much as I want to clarity right now, I'm not going to get it.
3. Clarity breeds resistance because if you are clear, then you have to do something.
This requires taking action. And if getting clarity means that you have to do something uncomfortable or that others may not like, then your ego will do everything possible to keep you stuck in that place of confusion.
This will show up in the form of procrastination and tending to menial activities such as doing the dishes, laundry, or finding your great aunt Bertha the most perfect birthday card.
Sometimes our spirit calls us to make huge shifts and our life and / or business in order to get the happiness and joy that we want. And this can be very, very, scary.
So what is showing up for you?
Do you need clarity surrounding your soul level gifts so that you can get the confidence that you need to put yourself out there? If so...
Do you just need to wait for time to pass in order to gather more information, or are you hitting the wall of resistance? I strongly recommend Tapping for urgency and impatience, as well as getting past fears if you are doing the self-sabotage thing.
