Have you ever noticed that it takes more energy to put stuff off than to just deal with it? But we still procrastinate anyway. It’s like you try to push it out of your mind telling yourself you will do it later, or when you are ready. But does is really leave the mind? No. Your brain keeps holding on to it. And because it is something that scares you, you just hold on to the negative energy. Super swell.
Negative energy and self-disgust then leads to physical symptoms. That constant stress and pressure in your chest. Headaches, maybe. The sinking feeling and churning in the pit of your stomach. Exhaustion due to lost sleep.
Double super swell.
So why do you do this? Because your monkey mind says it will keep you safe. If you don’t change, then you don’t risk death, loss of a limb, or spontaneous combustion. Seems a bit drastic, eh? But that’s how your brain works.
The stupid reality of all this, though, is that if you just DO whatever it is that you are avoiding, it is over and you can release the energy. You actually FEEL BETTER, regardless of the outcome.
I’ve been dealing with a lot of my own procrastination this week, which got me spending more time with my inner warrior, rethinking my actions and mindset, setting some intentions, and just doing what needs to be done.
Here are 3 reasons why I realized being in touch with your warrior is SUPER IMPORTANT.
1. You can ask for strength and inspiration (or whatever you need) to take the first step.
2. You know you will be ok no matter what.
Because your warrior is your soul voice, you trust the Universe and yourself that you actually NEED this experience, regardless of outcome, to learn something valuable. Wow, really think about this, and see what kind of peace you gain from it. YOUR SELF-WORTH IS NOT DETERMINED BY YOUR EXPERIENCES!
3. You understand, really understand, that doing what scares you, stepping out of your comfort zone, is the very thing that is going to give you MORE confidence and power, which helps with #2.
And I know it seems backasswards….If I fail, how will I be more confident? Well, if you fail, and you survive, and when that horrible “whatever” on top of failure that you think will happen actually doesn’t, then more power to you!
Ever notice that by trying to avoid that “thing”, you actually get more of what you DON’T want? More stress, more self-doubt, more lack.
