Building confidence breeds change. It is inevitable.
Fear keeps you stuck in status-quo, like the hamster running on the wheel to nowhere, that just squeaks all night long. (If you had hamsters as a kid, you will know the torment I speak of.)
But when you finally connect with your soul voice, engaging in conversation with your authentic self, those fears dissipate and doors open to welcome a new sense of confidence. You now have the faith in yourself to go after what it is that you want. And when you do that, change happens and happiness pursues.
Sometimes change is easy. But many times it is really, really hard, tests your limits, and plainly just sucks ass. Sometimes we ask for it; sometimes it is forced.
I, myself, am currently making some pretty significant transitions in my life. And while I have reconnected with my soul voice, confidence, and self-worth over the past 5 years, there are still days where I doubt my decisions and reflect on the seemingly bat-shit crazy moves I have made. To do so is human.
It is at this point that I ask for guidance, some help, a bit of validation that I am on the right track, and look for the signs.
Over the weekend I went on a little stress-reducing getaway to Naples and Marco Island. While I have been asking for some guidance (because stress does get in the way of connecting to your inner radar), I didn’t spend every moment purposefully seeking something out. Plus, it doesn’t really work that way. If you try to force it, all you get is a bunch of laugher from the powers that be. It is usually when you aren’t consciously looking, rather are just “open to receiving”, when the magic happens.
- My hotel room number, 268. Well, I’ll be damed. That sneaky Universe. I just had a colleague do an intuitive astrological report for me, and my 3 auspicious numbers are…. wait for it… 2, 6, and 8. Bam.
- Day 2. Browsing the gift shop and fondling (yes, I am a dreaded “toucher”) the cheezy souvenir trinkets. I come across a little sign, with a quote about love, that I have actually been using the past couple weeks. What are the chances of that sign having that exact quote, out of the billion quotes out there?
- The last day brought a chance run-in on the beach with a colleague/friend and his wife. They live in Virginia and happened to be vacationing in the same spot. It was a conversation that led to a small career boost in the right direction. Well hello then.
And finally, a bonus gift from the powers that be, an email upon return, that gave me exactly what I needed to hear. Because before my little “retreat”, I was allowing my fearful monkey mind to take over, the one that is annoying loud and talks non-stop. This email reminded me to just show up, do what I can, and release the outcome.
So when in doubt, just ask. Ask for help, ask for some divine feedback. And be open to receiving guidance. Look for the signs. Know that they are there for YOU. There are no coincidences.
