I definitely needed some “clearing” this morning.
I poured myself a cup of coffee, took the coconut milk out of the refrigerator and added it to coffee, and then put both the coconut milk and my cup of coffee in the refrigerator.
I proceeded to look for the cup of coffee for 15 minutes. Poured a new cup of coffee and then found the old coffee in the refrigerator when I went to get more coconut milk.
Just sayin’, I definitely needed some brain clearing this morning. That, or I just needed to go back to bed! 🙄
My coffee escapade certainly wasn’t a huge, ongoing struggle. But stress, anxiety, grief, relationship problems, or low self-worth can be.
Anytime we are called to work on ourselves as a means to stop struggling, there is a process that we must go through. (Yes, it would be asstastic to wave the magic wand, but I just haven’t found a way to do that yet.)
Healing requires one part clearing work to one part practical action.
1. Clearing Work
If you are filled with trash, and you aren’t emptying it, then the garbage just keeps overflowing and taking up space.
Where are you going to put all the good stuff?
Negative energies (aka trash) can form from your thoughts and beliefs.
If you tell yourself that you are are too fat, ugly, stupid, poor, not good enough, confused, depressed, etc., you are triggering the negative emotions that follow said thoughts.
Then uncomfortable feelings of shame, guilt, embarrassment, and fear vibrate throughout your body, even impacting your little microscopic cells.
You know this to be true as you can certainly tell the difference in how your body feels when you are experiencing joy versus when you are holding on to anger and hate.
Your actions can create negative energies as well. If you are doing a bunch of shit you feel “obligated” to do, and that just makes you feel resentful, then you are inviting resentment to take up space in your house.
So part one is clearing these energies that no longer serve you whether they are thoughts, feelings, or self-sabotaging actions.
2. Taking Action
We’re talking about NEW and IMPROVED action, not the same ol’ stuff you’ve been doing.
Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.
~ Albert Einstein
The good news is that if you are making choices that are attracting a whole lot of what you DON’T want, you can start to make choices that create what you DO want.
And what do choices that create “all things great” look like? They look like aligned choices.
Yes, the secret lies in ALIGNMENT – making decisions that flow WITH:
- your authentic way of being
- your purpose and divine gifts
- your values (YOURS, not your parent’s, BFF’s, or what society suggests)
- and with what brings you joy
So many people get caught up in should’s, people pleasing, and wanting to “look good” that pretty soon their decisions become everyone else’s instead of theirs. Talk about a way to trigger anxiety!!
When I do my 1:1 healing sessions / readings with clients, there is always a clearing part to dump the trash AND a taking new aligned action part.
Without the clearing, there is no space for reflection and inviting in the positive. Without the action, there is no movement and no change in circumstance.
Effective change requires clearing out your trash, and then taking new aligned action.
You need a combo of BOTH to create the life you truly want!
